A Tale of Two Regeds

Tech support tells me to type 'regedt32' as opposed to 'regedit' to access the registry from the command line (Start > Run). I question the use of 'regedt32,' but he says to do it anyway. Whenever I use the registry editor, I recall this incident and never look up the tale of the two regs... until now.

Adding USB 2.0

The process of adding USB 2.0 ports took no time and the backup system is mighty fast. If you add USB 2.0 ports with a PCI port card, then you'll still have your USB 1.1 ports, so whatever is plugged into those can stay.

Back Up, Back Up, Back Up!

This is not your typical lost data story. I was a good girl and I kept my files on the network drive just like the company recommended. The only thing I put on my hard drive was junk files - things that wouldn't bother me if the hard drive crashed. But not on the network drive. The drives are backed up and even my PC has a local back up program. Can you see where this is go .....

Behave, Word, Behave!

If you copy something from a Web site or elsewhere... or you reuse a document and the formatting is making you crazy with its weirdness, then stop the insanity. The first option to make the document behave loses some of the formatting. You can always undo the changes if you don't like it by pressing CTRL+Z. To dump some of the formatting, press CTRL+A to select all and then .....

Moving to a New PC

Getting a new PC is exciting and a pain. It's exciting because you get a faster processor, more storage and all the latest stuff even though it's outdated as soon as it hits your desk. Mozilla Vs. Firefox

For those who are unclear on the differences between the Mozilla package (Netscape is also comparable to Mozilla except they're two different companies) and Firefox / Thunderbird, here it is:
Mozilla is a complete package meaning it comes with email, browser, address book, newsgroup, and chat applications integrated.

Printing Multiple Copies of Photos

I do a holiday letter every year and send them to friends so they know what's happening with my family and I ask them about theirs. Though addressing the envelopes and such is a pain, I enjoy doing the letter and adding a wallet-sized photo of my kids to show them off. To print nine wallets on a page, you don't have to copy the picture eight times in Word and then print .....

Software Upgrades Aren't Always the Best Move

When my daughter was getting into AOL instant messaging (AIM) and using all the cool add-ons, I looked for more as it's a great way to learn about extending applications.
